DeCarlo was a fan of the band at a young age and posted cover songs of Boston on his MySpace account.
After Boston lead singer Brad Delp committed suicide, DeCarlo wrote a song about it and posted it. He was approached by Tom Scholz and asked be sing at the Brad Delp Tribute Concert and then was hired permanently. He officially joined the band in 2008 and was featured on Boston's 2013 album Life, Love & Hope which reached #37 on the Billboard 200 chart. Boston's popular singles include "More Than a Feeling", "Long Time", "Don't Look Back", "Amanda", "We're Ready", and "Can'tcha Say (You Believe in Me)" among others.
